Saturday dawned drizzly, murky, damp and just plain yucky. So what's the plan for my time off for good behavior before I have to resume my House Elf duties? Use Flash! As I'm getting much more adventurous with my baking and general cooking since retirement here's my Murky Day Birding recipe.
Prerequisites.
1 Bird-table
1 Camera and Lens
1 Remote Flash (alternatively use built in flash)
2 Tripods (one for the Camera, one for the Remote Flash)
Ingredients:-
18" of Clingfilm
Length of camo netting
1 old tree root
1 branch of leafy invasive shrub pruned to suit
4oz dried meal worms
4oz Safflower seeds (or Black Oil Sunflower)
Handful of fallen leaves to taste
Instructions:-
1. Arrange old root and branch on bird-table.
2. Wrap clingfilm around flash body to prevent water damage. If using remote flash place on tripod and position slightly to the side of old root.
3. Sprinkle dried mealworms and safflower seeds over old root.
4. Open window in front of birdtable and after placing camera and lens on tripod poke it through the draped camo netting covering the open window.
5. Wait, if you fed them, they will come. Large mug of English Breakfast optional.
6. Snap away.
