if that's my Phoebe or one of my Bluebirds he's eating. He can eat all the House Sparrows or Starlings he wants but not my Phoebe.

Snow Geese

Normally Sunday mornings are pretty quite around these parts. Not this Sunday. Noisy Snow Geese are creating a racket. Pity it was so murky, if it were a little brighter I'd be out there photographing them. I've not quite got the hang of this video lark, I'll have to practice on the cats.

I noticed the Mockingbird in a Cherry Tree outside the bedroom window the other day and I've only just got around to looking at the pictures. Here's one I like, it was a bit rainy and snowy so he's looking a bit bedraggled.

Several inches of snow and still falling. Eight inches is forecast so I made sure the birds have plenty of food and I'm feeder watching. When I was out filling the feeders there was a loud roar from the top end of the yard. That was several thousand Snow Geese taking off, I trudged up the hill at the top end of the yard and took a small bucket of corn up to spread in the field. It all sank into the snow but in a day or two they will find it and I might be able to engage stealth mode and photograph them without disturbing them.

Little Phoebe is costing me a fortune in dried mealworms. Spring needs to hurry up to bring some nice juicy bugs for him to eat.

Ruined?

I thought our cats were spoiled, now I've decided they're absolutely ruined! At least Nutkin is not getting up to no good for once. My shoelaces are her latest target, my moccasin slippers keep coming undone because the little brat is attacking them, usually when I'm wearing them. The ends are all soggy!

Still, right now peace and quiet reigns about the house.

I noticed Phoebe sitting in a Cherry tree outside a window in the bedroom so I dashed downstairs and grabbed a camera, It's not the best of perches but I take what opportunities I'm given.

In between a bit of vacuuming and floor polishing I noticed Mocker sitting in a Locust tree warming up in the sunshine. I managed to get a few images of him before he took off for the Yew tree to sunbathe.
