Butterflies

After taking the car in for an early service I stopped off in Hershey to visit the Butterfly Atrium. I took along the Nikon D850, 105mm VR lens forgetting the Polarizing Filter but remembering my R1C1 Flash setup. Heres a few from this morning.

Middle Creek WMA

On Friday there was a report of 20,000 Snow Geese and 1000 Tundra Swans at Middle Creek so I popped over late Saturday afternoon. I walked out to Willow Point where all the noise seemed to be coming from. The lake was mostly frozen over and the Snow Geese were all out on the ice/water transition. There was an adult Bald Eagle sitting in the tree opposite and he never budged the 1 1/2 hours I was there. I found a Northern Harrier quartering the far side of the lake but no Short-eared Owls. I was hoping for a few flyovers but nothing came really close.

Horned Lark

I not only feed the birds in the yard I also spread some seed out in the fields for the Horned Larks and Buntings. As we have a few inches of snow I spread some out the other day and went up with more this morning. I returned with my camera and took a few shots of the Horned Larks. I didn't find any Snow Buntings or Lapland Longspurs but I'll keep feeding in the hope of attracting a few.
