Weather

Yesterday started out very misty due the heavy rain on Friday night. It was so misty that you could hardly see the tops of the trees in the yard. It soon burned off and became a nice warm spring day until the afternoon. Then there was a thunderstorm, the first of the year I believe.

Pink Trillium

Yesterday was the Manada Conservancy Native Plant Sale. I bought a few but the nicest of all were the Trillium in both White and Pink varieties. Grown from seed over 9 years, fascinating description of how they are grown over the 9 years. It's a bit on the chilly side today so I'll wait until it warms up a bit before finding a suitable spot in the yard.

Farewell Snowbird.

Looking around the sunlit yard this morning and I think the last of the Dark-eyed Junco's have left. There was no frost last night either which is good news. Hopefully spring is finally here and I can put some plants out.

Bloodroot

On Thursday I went outback and looked to see if my Bloodroots were out yet. Nope. No sign of them. Yesterday the temperatures were in the mid 80's as was today. When I checked this morning there they were, loads of them.

Loons

A quick walk over the dam at Memorial Lake was made pretty good by the nice selection of water fowl. A pair of Lesser Scaup and a pair of Blue-Winged Teal were nice as were the distant pair of Ruddy Ducks. What was nice was the 7 or so Common Loon and the solitary Red-throated Loon. One of the Loons kept coming into a sheltered bay and I managed to get this shot of it.

Chickadee

We have a kitty who we call Chickadee, this is not her however. This is an Avian Chickadee rather than the Feline namesake. Going through a load of old pictures I'm coming across some really good ones. This is from January 2nd 2009 taken with a Nikon D300 and 200-400mm Nikon lens.
