Holy Island - Lindisfarne

A few miles further up the coast from the Farne Islands, Lindisfarne also known as Holy Island was the site of a priory founded by St Aidan around 634AD. It's only an island for a few hours either side of high tide and can be reached by car over a long low lying causeway. Once we were over the causeway we were there for another 5 1/2 hours due to the tide coming in. Fascinating how the light changes over the 5 hours while on the island.
