Cape May visit, the one where Siri has a brain fart.
Yesterday I took myself off to the NJ coast to get a touch of sea breeze and
salty air. After several days of rain thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Ian
the promise of nice sunny weather was too much to resist. Not to mention I
figured the birds should be moving after being held up by Ian. I wasn't wrong,
lots of birds on the move. Nice drive down avoiding Philadelphia by cutting
down through Exton and Vineland to Cape May Lighthouse getting there just after 7AM.
Had a nice wander around just having fun taking photographs, lots of
photographs. After a nice lunch at Harry's Ocean Bar and Grille on the sea
front in Cape May (Thanks Tobi) we visited Stone Harbor to try for some
waders. I'll get to the Siri story after the photographs which are in
alphabetical order.

I left Stone Harbor mid afternoon and told Siri to take me home. Now Siri for those who don't know who Siri is, she is Apples Voice Recognition Software. I plug my iPhone into the Outback which uses Apple Car Play. I can basically tell Siri to navigate, play whatever music I have in my library, send and receive text messages make and receive phone calls just by asking Siri. Normally she is wonderful, yesterday afternoon however she was having issues. She was telling me to turn in the right places to get out of Stone Harbor and she started directing along the road the Vineland in NJ which is the way I travelled down avoiding Philly, where I really did not want to go. So I'm tootling along doing what she's telling me because having been up and about since 3AM I didnt want to think too much. Before I know it I'm heading into central Philadelphia and for the vast majority of readers who have never driven there, in peak travel times it's a fucking carve up. The demented boy racer commuters in Philly are an absolute fucking nightmare to those like me who are used to more sedate rural traffic such as tractors, harvesters and Amish horse and buggies. Why oh why would Siri the dumb bitch take me NE through downtown Philadelphia in rush hours traffic when I wanted to go NW and I was already well West of Philly, I have no idea. Ok, stalled in traffic I found that there was a 49 minute delay on 676 the way she was directing me to go. First chance I got I headed West towards the Philly airport, I know my way cross country from there mostly, I say mostly because although I've driven loads of time it was always using a Nav system. Several times along the route I asked her to take me home and every damn time she wanted me to turn back to Philly and commuter hell which was well East of where I wanted to go. I got my own back I told her to play 'Pocket Full of Sunshine' 3 times in succession. I thought I'll teach you, you dumb bimbo.
