I chose my day off from the daily grind of Domestic Servitude carefully to
coincide with nice weather but where to go? I decided upon Longwood Gardens as
I hadn't been for a couple of years. I was not expecting so much new
construction. Still I had a nice long walk around the grounds in the not too
chilly early Spring sunshine. Eventually I arrived at the huge conservatory
which is positively steamy, almost Amazonian humidity and although I was only wearing
a long sleeve tee shirt and a fleece vest I was soon sweating my whatsits off.
After a stroll around the conservatory jungle I was in dire need of
liquid so over to the nearby cafe for lunch. Well they certainly know how to
charge, $20 for a Dr Pepper and a small Mushroom and Asiago flatbread. It
tasted very nice but it ended up giving me heartburn! After lunch I walked
round the large lake and back to the visitor center and the gift shop. I was
going to buy a little something for She Who Must Not Be Named for giving me
the day off. Nah. Screw it. Nothing interesting that she would like so mid
afternoon I headed back home. Here's a few pictures of my day off.
