Butterfly Garden Activity 1

Sunday was a nice day, not too hot, not too breezy and best of all no rain. The Monarchs have been very active with up to 5 on the various Milkweeds at once. I've seen several females egg laying and I already have several caterpillars.

Box Kitty

Heres one of Oliver in a box. Nothing unusual about that. You put a box on the floor, cabinet wherever and a cat will jump into it. Again, nothing unusual about that, it's what kitties do. What's different about this picture is that it was taken with a 35 year old camera! Not bad I think.

Superbum

The title is quite accurate believe it or not, incomplete but accurate. The Latin name for the flower we found on an afternoon walk is Lilium superbum or more commonly named Turk's Cap Lily. We went out looking for Rattlesnakes or any kind of snake for that matter. We did see a Five-lined Skink with a blue tail but no snakes I'm afraid. A few Frogs and Birds along the way and lots of other interesting plants. Here's a few of the superbum and an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail I came across on some Knapweed.

Now for something completely different

The Catalpa tree is looking magnificent so I charged up the battery in the Infrared Sony and went out at dusk to take a few photographs. Theres so many ways you can process the IR image which appeals to my experimental artsy side. Heres one I like.
