On Friday there was a report of 20,000 Snow Geese and 1000 Tundra Swans at Middle Creek so I popped over late Saturday afternoon. I walked out to Willow Point where all the noise seemed to be coming from. The lake was mostly frozen over and the Snow Geese were all out on the ice/water transition. There was an adult Bald Eagle sitting in the tree opposite and he never budged the 1 1/2 hours I was there. I found a Northern Harrier quartering the far side of the lake but no Short-eared Owls. I was hoping for a few flyovers but nothing came really close.
