Sunday Morning Birdies

As  I was waiting for the temperature to warm up a little before going outside to do some yard work I decided to take some pictures out of the window while I drank my second mug of tea. I had been out to feed the birds and I noticed the Brown Thrasher was about and it was him I was trying to photograph. No such luck. When he did come down a Mourning Dove landing spooked him. Still his cousin the Mockingbird was more obliging.

Black and White

Just for a change I though I'd play with black and white. This is another from Maine and it's looking towards Otter Cliffs reasonably early in the morning to get the best light.

Canadian Sandwich

While vacationing (holidaying) in Northern Maine we wanted to visit Lubeck which is right on the Canadian border. As it was a bit rainy we decided to eat our lunch somewhere different, so we ate our sandwiches in Canada.

Roosevelt-Campobello International Park is just across the Canadian border in New Brunswick.

Black Bear

Although you can see a Black Bear pretty much anywhere in the US in places like Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountain National Parks your chances of seeing one or two are far greater. Photographing them is another matter entirely.

Phoebe's, one of my favorite birds.

I saw my first Phoebe of the year in the yard yesterday and although I wasn't quick enough with the camera I remembered these beauties from a few years ago. The Eastern Phoebe usually builds a nest on a platform I made for them under the eaves of the garage. One time they built a nest over the sliding door on the deck, what a mess they made. I didn't mind as they are superb flycatchers and do their bit in keeping the mossies under control.

Black Phoebe, Malibu Lagoon, California

A few years ago I spent several weeks working just North of Malibu in South California. In the evenings and on weekends I often visited Malibu Lagoon to watch and photograph the birds. I came across this Black Phoebe on the beach and he was quite photogenic so I took his picture.

Phoenix rises from the ashes

I thought I'd give this blogging a go again.

Yeah I know it's not a Phoenix it's an old Tufted Titmouse photo I found.
