Longwood Gardens

As Saturday was going to be better weather wise than Sunday we set off for Longwood Gardens. The Tulip displays were rather crowded so we headed off to the quieter areas of the gardens to escape the hordes. The tulips were very nice what we saw of them, apparently one area held over 100,000 tulips and another 70,000. Glad I didn't have to plant them. We had a nice walk round and found the bullfrogs I wanted to see. One sounded just like an Alligator calling away. There were loads of little fishes waiting at the water edge to be fed. A walk around the conservatory was a little on the humid side but the plants in there need it no doubt.

Stick me in a place like this.

This fine but very bright Sunday morning we went on a little excursion to Middle Creek via the Night Heron Rookery in Ephrata. Lots of pairs of Black-crowned and supposedly a Yellow-crowned but we didn't see one. On to Middle Creek and a walk out to Willow Point where there were a few stragglers left over from the many thousands of Snow Geese. As we were leaving I spotted a Dogwood tree I wanted to photograph. It was actually a little grave site from the 1800's. It's a lovely setting on the hillside overlooking Middle Creek.

Flowers

Saturday morning started out wet and windy but brightened up around lunchtime. I popped out to look at the wild flowers but it was still very windy so I resorted to a couple of pot plants instead.

Forgotten what this one is!

Dandelion

This Dandelion is growing out of my drystone wall. This morning when I looked out it was all closed up in the shade but now mid morning it's opened up and is dazzling. I know it's technically a weed but it's a pretty weed so it's staying.

She's awake

This is Chickadee, I don't think I've added a picture of her before. She normally sleeps 23 hours a day so yesterday was unusual. She curls up in a ball with her head tucked in and you can't get a decent picture of her. I was trying out a new lens so here she is.
